Umri Kalan is a town in the Moradabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, in Northern India.

In 1265, Sufi Hazrat Baba shaikh Fariduddin Masood Shakarganj Rahmatullah Alay, along with his nephew Sufi Hazrat Sabir Kaliyari stayed in Umri Kalan while traveling and mentoring to people for humanity and brotherhood under Islam flagship in Sufi territory of Sufi Hazrat Sabir Kaliyari. Impressed with this particular land and the location between two rivers, they ordered two disciples to remain there, working towards the Sufism mission. One was Baba Badruddin, a relative of Sufi Hazrat Fariduddin and descendant of Caliph Omar bin khattab. The other was from the shaikh Ansar family of medina, Saudi Arabia.
The name of umri kalan come from name of Caliph Omar( as Sufi Hazrat Baba shaikh Fariduddin Masood Shakarganj Rahmatullah was descendant of Caliph Omar bin al-Khattab),Kalan means bada or big and Ganj means Khazana or wealth so initial name was Omari kalan Gunj Farid.
Geo spatially Umri kalan is located between two rivers, and surrounded by heavy lush of greenery, timbers and lakes, in north and east side by Karula nadi originate from Nagina Lake and south and west side by Gangan nadi originates from Himalayans range.
This highly fertile land between two rivers or doaba is popular for producing finest variety of mangoes and rice of India.
Before starting of British era in 1757, until Najib ud Daulah and Zabita Khan Regime, Umari Kalan Ganj Faridi was official name of the town. However, by the time, it took popularity as Ganjo ki Umri and official name become Umri Kalan.
The Gate of Umri Kalan was built at the time of chairmen Janab Nasir Ali Saheb in year 2005-2006. It is named as Shaikh-ul-Hadees Syed Maulana Fakhrul Hasan Gate.
Syed Maulana Fakhrul Hasan was born on 10th Rajab, A. H. 1323, at Umri Kalan. In A. H. 1387,he was appointed as principal in Darul Uloom.
